Derrick Schrader began his dance training in Minnesota and has since become a respected choreographer with a global reach. Currently based in Los Angeles, he focuses on dance education, artistic direction, and visual arts. With nearly two decades of experience as a touring dance educator under the mentorship of dance icon Joe Tremaine, Derrick has worked with industry giants and collaborated on major projects, including MTV, ESPN, the Disney Channel, and Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance." He has had the opportunity to work with esteemed figures such as Paula Abdul, Carmen Electra, contestants from Rupaul’s Drag Race, Todrick Hall, Steven Spielberg, Kenny Ortega, and tap legend Gregory Hines. Derrick has solidified his reputation as a dynamic force in the industry.
Derrick's choreography has earned him numerous accolades, including the "Favorite Convention Teacher Of The Year" award and 17 nominations for his choreography at the Industry Dance Awards. He continues to travel the country, exploring new creative avenues and connecting with diverse audiences. Recently certified in yoga and breathwork, Derrick Schrader is dedicated to helping dancers enhance their self-awareness through the practice of expression and movement.
