Revel Dance Convention’s National Finals MainStage Competition including solos, duo/trios, groups, lines and productions.
Revel Dance Convention’s re-compete Competition is scheduled on the last day of Nationals. To be included in the Dance-Off, routines must be awarded an Ultimate Revelation during the General Competition. Routines will be re-scored and will be eligible for Performance of the Year in Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior age divisions. After the Dance-Off, 3 nominees will be announced and then perform once more in the Gala Closing Show, where the winners will be announced.
This is a separate Nationals solo competition exclusively for recipients of the Regional Elite Reveler Runner Up and Winner Scholarships. All age divisions will be included in the competition and dancers will receive adjudication only. Top finalists will be announced prior to the last day of Nationals and winners will be announced during the Gala Closing Show.
This is a separate Nationals solo competition exclusively for 2023-2024 Pro Reveler Faculty Assistant Company dancers wherein they compete for Pro Reveler of the Year. Scoring is adjudication only.
Judges can determine that a routine may have been entered incorrectly, and can move it to appropriate division.
Revel offers a fourth judge to the competition judging panel in most cities. Independent from the other three judges who are scoring routines, this fourth judge provides exclusive and direct feedback to the studio owner, teacher and/or choreographer. This may include costuming, age appropriate music and choreography, prop usage, story development, as well as, suggestions for staging, formations, confidence, engagement, interaction, connection, and performance. While the fourth judge or "teacher judge" does not score the routines, they may provide additional clarity on topics not addressed by the other three judges.
REVEL is one of only three events Certified by Youth Protection Advocates in Dance (YPAD). This means that our team has undergone significant training in the areas of Safety & Wellness for young dancers, and are responsible for upholding the standards set forth by YPAD. These standards include, but are not limited to background checks for all Faculty & Staff, staff being certified in CPR and First Aid, and ensuring policies and procedures uphold REVEL's inclusive, equitable, and family-friendly environment. While attending REVEL, studios should expect convention classes with age-appropriate music and movement choices. REVEL expects the same from attending studios in terms of performances on the competition stage. We believe that as a community everyone can work together to create positive progress in the competitive dance industry. For more information on REVEL's certification through YPAD, please contact our Customer Experience Team.
Revel is excited to introduce our new Competition and Remix Closing Show “spectator pass” called REVPASS. Because Revel Events take place in public spaces, we are adding this new measure to help ensure that ONLY friends and family of participating dancers are able to gain access to the competition audience. Safety is at the core of what we do. Any spectator (parents, family and friends) viewing the Competition or Remix Closing Show in-person must have a REV-PASS to enter the main stage ballroom. Participating dancers and studio staff do not need a REVPASS. A REVPASS is essentially a ticket to the show, just like you would have to enter a theatre performance or movie, and are FREE.
Prior to their Revel Event, studios will receive instructions for their families to receive REV-PASS. Once a REV-PASS is verified at the Mainstage Ballroom door entrance, each spectator will be given a wristband which will be used to reenter the Mainstage Ballroom for the remainder of the weekend during the Competition and Remix Closing Show. REV-PASS Spectator Wristbands can not be used to observe convention classes.
