There are no entry limits for the total number of routines a studio may compete. Dancers may compete a max of 1 solo. If there is space available 30 days prior to the event, Revel may increase the max number of solos per dancer to 2.
All props must be listed for each dance in their studio registration. Each prop must include a description and accurate set up/tear down time. Props or set pieces over 10 feet high or over 200 pounds are not permitted without prior permission from Revel. Point deductions will be made for inaccurate prop details and set-up time.
The Revel Stage is typically 40 feet wide and 28 feet deep and includes wing-space. In some cities, chandeliers may impact the total available ceiling clearance.
Revel Dance Convention is replacing its General Scholarship Audition Class with the Elite Reveler Audition Class. At all regional events, the Elite Reveler Audition Class will take place in each age room on Saturdays during the convention portion of the event. It will most likely be a jazz class taught by Revel Faculty and/or Revel Directors. During the class, dancers will audition for several industry sponsored scholarships as well as regional tuition scholarships to next season and our newly Elite Reveler Scholarships. At the conclusion of the Elite Reveler Audition Class, select dancers will be awarded the Elite Reveler Runner Up Scholarships. All Elite Reveler Runner Up recipients will have the opportunity to perform in the Remix Closing Show on Sunday after which they will find out which dancers receive the Elite Reveler Winner Scholarships. Both Runners Up and Winners are invited to compete in the Reveler of the Year National Title Competition at Nationals. For more info, click here.
At each Revel regional event, two dances (12 and under & 13 and up) out of the entire competition will be called the Ultimate Revelation. This group, line, or production will receive free entry to Nationals and move straight through to our ULTIMATE REVELATION DANCE-OFF (for Mini-Senior Performance of the Year) which is a new competition component at REVEL National Finals.
The groups, lines, or productions who receive ULTIMATE REVELATION during REVEL National Finals week will also move into the ULTIMATE REVELATION DANCE-OFF. All chosen will re-compete (and be rescored) to find out who will be nominated as Mini, Junior, Teen, and Senior Performance of the Year. The top nominees will be announced concluding the DANCE-OFF and those nominees will perform for our audience during the Gala Closing Show at the conclusion of REVEL National Finals. Winners will be announced during the show.
Revel is offering Nationals Digital Pre-Qualifying Submissions. Groups, lines and productions that did not compete at a Regional Event OR scored a minimum of Hi Gold must be submitted via video submissions to qualify for Nationals. Competition fees are the same as the regionals and can be found here. Each routine submitted will be critiqued and scored by our Faculty. For additional info on submitting videos for pre-qualification to Nationals, please email competition@dancerevel.com.
Each attending studio will receive up to 5 complimentary Teacher Pass Lanyards. These Teacher Pass Lanyards will permit studio staff into each convention room to observe. To be eligible to receive the complimentary Teacher Pass Lanyards, studios must list all teachers and staff in their registration for the event. Teacher Pass Lanyards will be provided in the studio bag at the Revel Registration & Check-In kiosk upon arrival. If a studio requires more than 5 Teacher Pass Lanyards, they must purchase additional lanyards in the registration prior to the event.
Parents of registered dancers are allowed into the convention classes if they purchase a Parent Observer Band. All observers must be attending with paid dancers only. Studios (or Independent Registrants) must purchase Parent Observer Bands in their registration prior to the event. In some cities, REVEL may not permit parent observers due to space/capacity. Please note, Parent Observer Bands are specific to the Revel Level (Senior, Teen, Junior, Mini) and may not be used to gain access to multiple rooms. Parent observers must make sure Observer Bands are visible for Revel staff at all times during the classes. Parent observers must sit and keep all belongings against the walls to provide the maximum amount of space for the dancers. Revel reserves the right to ask any observer to leave the ballroom if they become a distraction to the dancers or faculty.
One-day Parent Observer Bands are not available.
Parent Observer Bands are required to watch Revel Bonus Classes on Friday night.
Revel continues to require a Competition and Remix Closing Show “spectator pass” called REVPASS. Because Revel events take place in public spaces, this measure helps to ensure that ONLY friends and family of participating dancers are able to gain access to the competition audience. Any spectator (parents, family and friends) viewing the Competition or Remix Closing Show in-person must have a REV-PASS to enter the main stage ballroom. Participating dancers and studio staff do not need a REVPASS. A REVPASS is essentially a ticket to the show, just like you would have to enter a theatre performance or movie, and are FREE.
Prior to each event, registered studios and independent dancers will receive instructions to provide to their families on how to obtain a REV-PASS. These must be brought to the event and shown to our staff. Once a REV-PASS is verified at the Mainstage entrance by our staff, each spectator will be given a wristband which will be used to reenter the Mainstage Ballroom for the remainder of the weekend during the Competition and Remix Closing Show. REV-PASS Spectator Wristbands can not be used to observe convention classes.
Revel is proud to safely offer access to its livestream via a password protected webpage. Prior to the event, each studio will receive an event-specific password which may be shared with friends and family wishing to view the Competition or Remix Closing Show. This is a complimentary offering and is subject to the quality and availability of internet strength within each venue. It is recommended to view the stream with a high speed internet connection. Please note that viewers are unable to rewind or fast forward the stream. Videos and Photos are available for purchase separately. It is strictly forbidden to screen record the livestream and share it.
Enjoy the show!
