There are no entry limits for the total number of routines a studio may compete. Dancers may compete a max of 1 solo. If there is space available 30 days prior to the event, Revel may increase the max number of solos per dancer to 2.
All props must be listed for each dance in their studio registration. Each prop must include a description and accurate set up/tear down time. Props or set pieces over 10 feet high or over 200 pounds are not permitted without prior permission from Revel. Point deductions will be made for inaccurate prop details and set-up time.
The Revel Stage is typically 40 feet wide and 28 feet deep and includes wing-space. In some cities, chandeliers may impact the total available ceiling clearance.
Revel Dance Convention is transitioning from its General Scholarship Audition Class to the Elite Reveler Audition Class. This class will be held in each age-specific room on Saturdays during the convention segment of all regional events. Typically, it will be a jazz class conducted by Revel Faculty and/or Directors. Participants will audition for various industry-sponsored scholarships, regional tuition scholarships for the upcoming season, and the newly introduced Elite Reveler Scholarships. At the conclusion of the class, select dancers will be awarded the Elite Reveler Runner Up Scholarships. Recipients of these scholarships will have the opportunity to perform in the Remix Closing Show on Sunday, where the Elite Reveler Winner Scholarships will be announced. Both Runner Up and Winner recipients are invited to compete in the Reveler of the Year National Title Competition at Nationals. For additional information, please click here.
During each Revel regional event, two performances, categorized as 12 and under and 13 and up, will be designated as the Ultimate Revelation. These selected groups, lines, or productions will be granted complimentary entry to Nationals and will advance directly to the ULTIMATE REVELATION DANCE-OFF, a newly introduced competitive segment at the REVEL National Finals. The groups, lines, or productions that achieve the ULTIMATE REVELATION status during the REVEL National Finals week will also progress to the ULTIMATE REVELATION DANCE-OFF. All selected participants will re-compete and be re-evaluated to determine the nominees for Mini, Junior, Teen, and Senior Performance of the Year. The top nominees will be announced at the conclusion of the DANCE-OFF, and these nominees will showcase their performances during the Gala Closing Show at the end of the REVEL National Finals. The winners will be revealed during this show.
Revel is introducing a Nationals Digital Pre-Qualification process. Groups, lines, and productions that either did not participate in a Regional Event or achieved a minimum score of Hi Gold are eligible to submit video entries for qualification. The competition fees align with those of the regional events and can be accessed here. Each submission will undergo a thorough critique and scoring by our esteemed Faculty. For further details on the video submission process for Nationals pre-qualification, please contact competition@dancerevel.com.
Each participating studio is entitled to receive up to five complimentary Teacher Pass Lanyards. These lanyards grant studio personnel access to observe activities within each convention room. To qualify for these complimentary lanyards, studios must ensure that all teachers and staff are listed in their event registration. The Teacher Pass Lanyards will be included in the studio bag, which can be collected at the Revel Registration & Check-In kiosk upon arrival. Should a studio require more than five lanyards, additional ones must be purchased during the registration process prior to the event.
Parents of registered dancers may attend convention classes by purchasing a Parent Observer Band. It is imperative that all observers accompany paid dancers exclusively. Studios or Independent Registrants are required to secure Parent Observer Bands during the registration process before the event. In certain locations, REVEL may restrict parent observers due to space limitations. It is important to note that Parent Observer Bands are designated for specific Revel Levels (Senior, Teen, Junior, Mini) and cannot be used for access to multiple rooms. Parent observers must ensure that their Observer Bands are visible to Revel staff at all times during classes. Additionally, observers are required to remain seated and keep all personal items against the walls to maximize space for dancers. Revel reserves the right to request any observer to exit the ballroom if they become a distraction to dancers or faculty.
One-day Parent Observer Bands are not available.
Parent Observer Bands are required to watch Revel Bonus Classes on Friday night.
Revel mandates the acquisition of a Competition and Remix Closing Show 'spectator pass,' known as REVPASS. This requirement is implemented to ensure that only the friends and family of participating dancers are permitted access to the competition audience, given that Revel events occur in public venues. All spectators, including parents, family members, and friends, who wish to attend the Competition or Remix Closing Show in person must possess a REVPASS to enter the main stage ballroom. It is important to note that participating dancers and studio staff are exempt from this requirement. The REVPASS functions as a complimentary ticket, akin to those required for entry to a theatrical performance or cinema.
Prior to each event, registered studios and independent dancers will receive detailed instructions on how their families can obtain a REVPASS. These instructions must be followed, and the REVPASS must be presented to our staff upon arrival. Once verified at the Mainstage entrance, each spectator will be issued a wristband, granting them access to re-enter the Mainstage Ballroom throughout the weekend for the Competition and Remix Closing Show. Please note that REVPASS Spectator Wristbands are not valid for observing convention classes.
Revel is proud to safely offer access to its livestream via a password protected webpage. Prior to the event, each studio will receive an event-specific password which may be shared with friends and family wishing to view the Competition or Remix Closing Show. This is a complimentary offering and is subject to the quality and availability of internet strength within each venue. It is recommended to view the stream with a high speed internet connection. Please note that viewers are unable to rewind or fast forward the stream. Videos and Photos are available for purchase separately. It is strictly forbidden to screen record the livestream and share it.
Enjoy the show!
